And it begins!
August 15, 2007
Hi, and welcome to the first post on this new Blag.
I came up with the idea after my last blog failed due to lack of attention because it had an ambiguous subject/topic. That, and I kept forgetting the stupid password.
I am currently in the first year of High School.
Hang on, it gets good.
When I was but 6 years old, my family moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I was taught there from Grade 1 to Grade 9 (We’ll be using different ranking systems according to context), but then I moved back to Mexico. This posed a bit of a challenge, as I forgot how to speak Spanish along the way. I can understand it perfectly, of course, but I can’t speak it. It’s like being mute, and it’s a horrible feeling, not being able to express yourself through one of the most basic forms of communication.
Anyways, I’m in High School now, and today was the 2nd day. My last day of Canadian education was June 28, and my Mexican education (which is actually better, academic-wise) started on August 13. This gave me a measly 45 days of vacation, cutting what should have been about 70-ish days of vacation in half…ish.
What can I say? Entering a school of 2800 people (800 of them are in High School alone) from a school of 300 people (across 9 grades) and 12 people per class… It leaves a mark on you. A mark that says “I’m a disillusioned newcomer to gigantic schools. Please don’t rape me.”
Aside from the general shock of it, I’m doing well in class. 2 of my classes are entirely debate-centered (2 people yell at each other while the rest watch), another 2 are entirely online (Including forums and IRC chat rooms), and some require just a bit of work (basically copying and pasting this blog, but translating it into Spanish).
But enough about me. Let’s talk about the blog. I’m crappy at HTML/coding/managing a blog, and this place might seem a bit undecorated for a while.
This will be a weekly-updated blog, akin to Wellington Grey’s Journal (although, I could never even get to the peak of writing excellence that he has). Also, I’ll be posting sporadic rants throughout, and random times and places. There might be another weekly feature, which I call Spangrish, and will just be pictures of horribly-translated places, signs, and otherwise, such as the Hair Salon named Rape (I kid you not).
So, without further ado, I give you:
Paisano
I wouldn’t say excellent, I’d say competent
Good luck with your own blog — weekly is a tough schedule to keep!
